How to Improve Your Daily Water Intake

While it’s not the most exciting pursuit and might even seem a bit monotonous, working to improve your daily water intake can have tremendous benefits for your overall health and well-being.

Drinking water is important for every bodily function: flushing toxins, kidney function, temperature regulation, promoting healthy muscles, joints, skin, and on and on.

Thankfully, there are certain methods and products available to us that have proven very helpful for those looking to up their H20 game.

Purchasing a quality water bottle that you like and is easy to take with you throughout your day is a great way to increase your water intake.

Flavoring your water with fruit is a tasty way to drink more. Also, eating fruits and vegetables is a great way to consume water, as many have high water content.

Some people like committing to an alternating system, where every time you drink a cup of coffee, juice, soda, etc. you then switch to a cup of water (and vice versa).

Also, try looking for simple ways to link the things that you do every day with opportunities to drink more water.

For example, getting out of bed in the morning? Start your day off with a cup of water.

Sitting down at your desk for work? Keep a full water bottle right next to your screen.

Filling up your pet’s water bowl? Fill yours up too!

Link water intake to your routines and it will become routine, as well.

Finally, taking a second to enjoy that water and what it’s doing for you will help you stick with it too. You simply feel better after drinking a glass water.

Enjoy it and the benefits you’re giving your body!

Are There Water Bottles That Track Water Intake?

If you’re working on increasing your water intake, or simply making sure you get the right amount each day, being able to effectively track how much water you’re drinking can help tremendously.

To this end, there are several quality water bottle options out there that offer ounce markings on the bottle to help you track how much water you’re drinking, such as the bottles mentioned above.

Additionally, some water bottles also offer motivational time markings on the bottle that help you consume a steady amount of water throughout the day as you work toward an overall goal.

Of course, these simple markers aren’t perfect and are really more guidelines than a precise tracking method.

So, if you’re looking for a more integrated and savvy approach to tracking water intake, then you should check out a smart water bottle.

Smart water bottles, like the HidrateSpark, connect to your smartphone to mark your progress and track how much you drink. It even glows when you’re due for a sip.

The HidrateSpark program calculates your hydration needs and goals by considering factors like your physiology, exercise, and weather—all important things that impact how much water you need.

Of course, smart water bottles run a little costlier than your average water bottle, so you may be wondering whether investing in one is worth it.

Depending on your goals, it certainly can be.

If you’re serious about wanting to improve your water intake, the HidrateSpark smart water bottle has been proven to help with fluid intake by reminding people to drink and helping them stay consistent.

So, whether you’re an athlete looking to optimize your performance and recovery, someone with a health condition that requires consistent hydration, or just someone who wants to drink more water to improve their overall well-being, a smart water bottle is a great investment.

How Much Water Should I Be Drinking Each Day?

Our nonstop days and busy lifestyles often cause us to overlook the little details that can have such meaningful impact.

Something as simple as drinking water can be overlooked, forgotten, or pushed to the back burner. Even though it’s so important for our well-being and vital for our health.

And we are talking vital here. Every cell in your body needs water to function properly.

So, how much water should you be drinking each day?

Male and female athletes drinking from water bottles.

While the exact answer may vary based on your specific physiology, level of activity, weather conditions, and other factors, in general, women should drink 92 ounces (11.5 cups) of water each day and men should drink 124 ounces (15.5 cups) of water each day.

Now, this fluid can come in a number of different ways. It adds up from any beverage we drink that contains water, as well as certain water-rich foods like fruit.

However, it’s important to remember that many of the beverages we consume throughout the day often contain caffeine and sugar.

While these are fine in moderate amounts, it’s always a good idea to prioritize drinking plain good old-fashioned water throughout the day, as well.

While certain people are at greater risk of dehydration than others, it’s possible for anyone to get dehydrated.

If you’re spending time outdoors in humid conditions, remember to hydrate frequently, especially if you’re exerting lots of energy through work or exercise.
